History of Calculus
[ send me this paper ]
Calculus provides methods to deal with varying quantities.
O'Connor & Robertson (1996) state that it has been evolving since Zeno in 450 B.C.E, who was supposed to be the first to posit an equation based on the infinite. However, the first infinite equation is believed to have been introduced by Archimedes in 250 B.C.E., bringing with it leaps in logic from theorists like Barrow, Newton and Leibniz. Integer Factorization
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page paper discussing the concept of integer factorization, providing examples and listing several shortcuts. Integer factorization can be difficult to grasp at first, but it becomes quite easy with practice and with assimilation of the shortcuts common in finding factors of a number. The factor tree is useful for identifying the prime factors of numbers, though it can become quite lengthy when beginning with very large numbers. Resulting factors simplify other operations, such as finding least common denominators of fractions. Bibliography lists 4 sources.

Inuitive and axiomatic mathematics
[ send me this paper ]
A paper which considers the difference between intuitive and axiomatic mathematics, and some of the reasons why the former is most commonly found in school curriculums, whereas the latter forms part of university level studies. Bibliography lists 11 sources.

John Napier / The Creator of Logarithms
[ send me this paper ]
A 9 page research paper on the life, works, and mathematical contributions of John Napier (1550-1617) -- the man most commonly associated with the creation of Logarithms. Napier also developed methods for multiplying and dividing small rods known as Napier's Bones, a device that was the forerunner of the slide rule. Some sample equations and a glossary of terms (defined) are included. Bibliography lists 12+ sources. Napier.wps *A 10 page version of this report is also available with more personal analysis as
